My 1,000th Post and Redesign
So here I am writing my 1,000th post on my 264th day of actively posting to Tumblr. (I’m also posting this at 6:03:09pm on 6/3/09.) To some this is no big deal and their eyes have already glazed-over. But, to me, it’s a huge deal.
I have been blogging on-and-off for nearly 10 years. In all that ridiculous amount of time I have no idea how many blog entries I’ve posted. What I do know is this- I have never even come close to 999 posts on a single blogging platform.
For the things I can count on one hand that I really dislike about Tumblr, it’s ease of use, customization capabilities, and overall structure have played a huge part in keeping me here and keeping me active.
It can’t go unsaid that a few of the people reading this from their dashboard have not only helped keep me here, but have become people I admire for a variety of reasons. Each one of you (but especially my 9 “Tumblr Crushes” which I unabashedly listed for the first time below) are epicly unique and I look forward to your tumbles every time I load-up my dashboard. I only wish I knew more of you IRL.
To celebrate my personal milestone I’ve redesigned my site. Well, not really. It just so happened that I realized I was approaching 1,000 tumbles and thought it would be a fine time to launch a redesign. Either way, my redesign is live.
While I, and others that have been rad enough to tell me, loved how my previous theme looked overall, there were things behind the scenes that stunk about it. The majority of the things I didn’t like about it were because of the actual theme design itself. Many of these things I either couldn’t figure out how to fix or were unchangeable in-order to maintain the aesthetic look and functionality of the site.
Having used Tumblr as much as I now have, I was able to take an existing theme I’ve really liked, modify it, add some things, delete some things, and create what I now have. Anyone that has seen the design this replaces can see similarities between the two. Please, let me know what you think. It’s a work in-progress, but so am I so it’s cool.
Before I stop rambling, here is how my first 999 posts can be broken down- 565 photo posts, 169 video posts, 90 quotes, 70 songs, 67 links, 31 text posts, and 7 chats. Only 34% (338/999) of these posts were ones I reblogged. I’ve had 240 reblogs of my posts.
Now, briefly moving onto my likes- I’ve received 1,798 of them and given 2,713. My “Crushes” are: Thomas (46), Andreas (50), Karen (53), “Gary” (58), James (59), Steven (73), Scott (74), Andy (75), and Ronnie (84). And, just as an aside, I’ve liked everything I’ve ever reblogged so my “Crushes” are pretty solid.
If you’ve read any part of this I thank you. Here’s to another 1000+ posts.
Onward!
