Apparently someone on Twitter wasn’t too happy with one of the tweets I tweeted earlier. They were so offended, hurt, angry… hell, I have no idea what word to use, that they @’d me and tried to start a debate.
I made the mistake of @ing them back without looking at their page first. Had I checked like I usually do when someone new @’s me I would have ignored them.
Here’s how the exchange played out:
ims: I randomly went to Ustream and I happened to see a live stream from the “CPAC” thing with Rush Limbaugh speaking. Wow. What a tool.
Jenfidel: @ims ”What a tool?” I know Twitter response must be short, but that’s the best you can do?
ims: @Jenfidel It’s the most fitting word for him to me. I like to save my vocabulary terms for those that deserve them.
Jenfidel: @ims Well, it’s inaccurate and poorly chosen. God help the little children if you really do become a teacher!
ims: @Jenfidel How dare you attack my character because you disagree with my opinion.
Jenfidel: @ims Your choices, as well our your aired opinions, reflect your character.
ims: @Jenfidel Agreed; as do yours. I’ll let others interpret your character even though you’ve gone out of your way to vocally interpret mine.
Jenfidel: @ims You’re a Leftist Liberal who wants to indoctrinate America’s kids with Liberal Left ideas. Shocka!
ims: @Jenfidel You’ve moved onto name calling. You’ll have to forgive me for not continuing this “conversation” any further. Have an epic night!
Jenfidel: @ims I haven’t called anyone a name. Are you or are you not a Leftist and a Liberal?
Needless to say I didn’t continue although she clearly wanted me to.
I am tumbling this not out of anger or spite; I am tumbling this because it has never happened to me before. I have never been personally attacked by someone I have never met, nor will I ever meet, in such a disgusting manner. For some complete stranger to say such things left me dumbfounded and hurt. Not to mention what they were saying to other people in similar exchanges.
Such blatant disrespect for another human being on any level really upsets me. Sometimes I read too much into things and dissect the hell out them, but in this case I don’t think I have.
This happened to me for a reason I’m not certain I’m all that aware of right now. I refuse to dwell on it and I’m moving forward. Onward and upward.
